THE spirit of community is alive and well on our pathways around the city.
Currently there are important and at times divisive discussions occurring regarding our great city's future. Serious, mature and balanced debate needs to continue on economic development, lifestyle and community factors.
In this light I conduct my own survey on the power of belonging in our Redland community on my daily runs and walks on our growing pathway network.
Well above 90 percent of all walkers, cyclists and runners will spontaneously wave and say hello as you pass.
This simple evidence of a powerful spirit of friendliness and goodwill should be celebrated. Imagine if this underpinned all our personal and business contributions, well, what a prosperous community we would all enjoy.
So give it a go, do your bit and say hello as you pass in the street and shopping districts. I think our community spirit is still thriving.
Don't let the grinches out there drag you down.
