REDLANDS College students enrolled in the school's excelsior dance program will have an opportuntiy to be taught by world class ballet instructors from Paris.
The college recently implemented dance as a subject in the curriculum, which included an after-school ballet and contemporary program.
Dance teacher Maria Teixeira said she was excited about the new program and was looking forward to the workshops later this year featuring the well-known instructors.
"The workshops will be held in July and feature Mr Marsa from the Paris Opera ballet and Mrs Genevois from the Bjart Ballet Company in Lausanne," she said.
She said while the workshops would not be until July, the school had a remarkable program with some of the most accomplished dance instructors available.
"There are many gifted teachers on board, including Claudia Dean, former dancer of The Royal Ballet," she said.
"The school is all about excellence, as we focus on technique and quality of the dancer and get the students where they need to be to follow their dreams."
Maria said it was important for students to have access to a good dance program, including those who wanted to learn dance for fun.
She said students who attended other schools had access to the course, with some travelling more than an hour to attend the after-school program.
Maria said in the future the school would like to implement musical theatre to the curriculum.
"Ashleigh, a student of the afternoon and Saturday classes, travels over an hour to attend, had performed in the Queensland Ballet Company's Nutcracker and has been asked to perform in the next production of Le Sylphides," she said.
Maria said in the future the school would like to implement musical theatre to the curriculum.
"Not all of us can be scientists or doctors, so the world needs be made up of dancers as well," she said.
