A Redland Bay woman has become a television model overnight after starring as the new face of international hair product company L'Oreal Paris.
Carol Snell, 61, was given the chance of a lifetime to star in a four-minute commercial for a hair thickening mixture after answering an email from the beauty product company.
The mother of two, who trains cleaning staff for Absolute Domestics at Victoria Point, couldn't believe her luck when L'Oreal called back offering her the role.
"They wanted real women to star in their TV ad for hair products and I couldn't believe it when I was chosen at 61 years of age," Mrs Snell said.
"I was flown to Melbourne and treated like a star for two days and had my hair coloured by a top salon selected by L'Oreal.
"I would never have done a commercial for a product I didn't think was any good because every woman wants to look beautiful and is worth it."
Mrs Snell's whirlwind rise to commercial stardom started after her hair started falling out from four years of hair extensions.
After having the hair extensions removed, Mrs Snell said she felt embarrassed to wear her hair down because it was so thin.
She started using one of L'Oreal Paris's hair thickening serums which improved the thickness and condition of her hair and allowed her to start wearing it without tying it up.
The commercial, directed by Damian Walshe Howling who starred in Underbelly as Benji, aired for the first time on Sunday, March 22, on channel 7, 9 and 11.
The ad was also screened in Gold Class cinemas over Easter.
