The Wilson Moreton Bay and Offshore Family Fishing Challenge 2015 will be held over the Queen's Birthday long weekend, June 5 - 8.
The event will be hosted and held at the Redland Bay Amateur Fishing Club.
Celebrating its 24th consecutive year, this popular community event will again give away more than $100,000 worth of cash and prizes.
The first 200 entrants will receive a Wilson gift pack valued at about $80.
There will be plenty of things to keep the kids entertained and lots for the big kids. This year there will also be a couple of fishing simulators and a local musical artist. A bar, food, coffee and sponsors' stalls will be there, including the RBAFC sausage sizzle.
Bay FM will have a broadcasting van at the venue doing live broadcasts on the Friday and Monday. Bush 'n' Beach magazine, which has sponsored the Challenge for many year,s has increased its sponsorship to Platinum. Another sponsor, Jackaroo Boats, is a one-stop shop for repairs or modification work to fibreglass boats. They also build boats.
Redland City Bulletin has also been sponsoring for many years and has now moved to Platinum level. Berserk Australia is a family-owned and operated business dedicated to building quality fishing products for Australian conditions.
Previous Platinum sponsors who are continuing their support include Wilson Fishing, Bonza Graphics, Nautilus Marine Insurance, Stones Corner Marine, Events in Tents, Toll, Mossops Bait & Tackle and Redland City Council.
Yamaha has come on board to sponsor this year and are also throwing in a few extra things for the lucky winner of the boat. Humminbird will also provide a nice colour sounder to go with the prize boat.
Humminbird will have a display at the Challenge and you will have an opportunity to bring your sounder down and the Humminbird boys will "tune" your sounder for you.
There will be the same three major categories introduced last year:
Mossops Secret Weight this will be snapper for seniors and a bream for juniors (one fish per person per day).
Grand Slam this is a combined weight of four species and split into two categories: Yamaha Inshore Grand Slam bream, whiting, snapper and jew; and Wilson Offshore Grand Slam pearl perch, snapper, sweet lip and cobia.
Bonza Graphics Catch and Release largest flathead as the name suggests, it will be the largest flathead caught and released (unharmed). You will need to take a photo or three on a brag mat or Bonza sticker.
An extra competition will run on Facebook leading up to the challenge. Like the Redland Bay Amateur Fishing Club page and like and share the Wilson prize pack and info for the Challenge for a chance to win this great Wilson prize pack valued at $400.
