The Live your Best Life program helps women access tools and guidance to improve their confidence and life skills. Redland Bay South RSL
THE Redland Bay South RSL will present the Dawn Service at 4.45am with veterans forming up at the corner of Weinam and Banana streets. The service will start at 5am. This year's service will re-enact the landing at Gallipoli. The public is warned that there will be loud noise. Earplugs will be issued on the morning at the three official gates manned by the SES. Due to the extended length of the service the public is asked to bring a chair. The cenotaph is being raised to assist in easier viewing. People without chairs will be encouraged to stand at the rear. A gun fire breakfast will be served in the community hall from 4.30am for the cost of a gold coin. In the community hall after the service a "diggers" breakfast of bully beef, biscuits and tea will be available. ANYONE interested in the Red Tent movement is invited to a free information evening on Wednesday, April 15, in Cleveland. Baden-Powell Guild
THE Redlands sub-branch of the Baden-Powell Guild held its first meeting for 2015 recently and the investiture of a well known member of the Birkdale Scout Group, Merrill Ovenden, was held. Merrill has been involved with the Birkdale Scouts for more than 40 years and has held various positions throughout Scouting at Queensland level. The guild has planned various activities for the first half of the year, which will include celebrating 10 years as a Baden-Powell Guild at a "sleep over" at Kindilan in March. Further celebrations included when two members, Gwen Hayman and Shirley Greentree, celebrated their 90th birthdays. Membership is open to anyone willing to make the Guild Promise. The April League gathering of Redlands RSL Sub Branch will be held on Sunday, April 19 at 10am in the Gallipoli Room. If you wish to lay a wreath on Anzac Day, contact RSL HQ. This year's main parade will start in Shore Street West, which will be closed from Wynyard Street to Wharf Street from 12am to 12pm on April 25. The Dawn and 11am Services will both take place at the new memorial in Kinsail Court, Cleveland.
The dedication of the memorial within the present Anzac Park to Animals of War will be held at 10am on Wednesday, April 22. A large contingent of handlers and their animals will be present at the service. We invite the Redland Community to attend this event.
