Video footage has emerged of an Essendon fan threatening to harm Carlton star Chris Judd outside a restaurant in Lygon Street.
With the incident involving Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson and a Port Adelaide fan from Saturday night still simmering as a talking point, footage on Channel Seven on Monday night showed Judd being subjected to verbal abuse by a man wearing a Bombers jumper while the dual Brownlow medallist was dining at the restaurant during the day.
It shows the supporter yelling several obscenities towards Judd and phrases such as "I'll slap you silly". However there was no report or evidence in the footage that Judd and the fan ever engaged in a physical confrontation.
Judd has spoken about the incident, which is believed to have happened a fortnight ago, revealing the supporter was "pretty close to coming to blows".
"Obviously, I've got no interest in really fighting anyone – particularly strangers that I don't know," Judd said on Channel Nine.
"It was uncomfortable. I guess [I'm] thankful that it didn't lead to blows but, yeah, I certainly felt in a very threatened situation."
Con Kamvissis, a manager of the restaurant where Judd is a regular, saw the incident and said he feared it would turn violent.
"It got pretty heated, I had to stand right in between them," Mr Kamvissis told Channel Seven. "... the guy wanted Chris to go in the laneway.
"He [the Essendon supporter] went up to the corner, he grabbed a stool from some other shop, he started walking back with it, but then he's thrown the stool. He was pretty aggressive, he was looking for trouble."
At one point, the supporter raised his fists at Judd. Kamvissis said Judd did not invite or escalate the situation.
"He was just saying, 'Back off, leave me alone, I just want to eat my food in peace, I don't want any trouble'," Kamvissis said.
Another witness added: "I recognised him [Judd] straight away, and it doesn't matter who you are – celebrity or no celebrity – you don't have to be hassled like that".
The incident is believed to have lasted for 10 minutes until Judd asked fellow diners to call the police.
Carlton confirmed on Monday night that neither the club nor Judd would take the incident any further.
