Straddie Ferries chief executive David Thomson said a new pontoon at Dunwich, completed on Friday, will open to the public this week.

He said the company had gone to great lengths to ensure passengers were safe getting on and off boats at the company's Dunwich terminal.
Straddie Ferries temporarily berthed its Moongalba barge at the Dunwich terminal as an alighting deck for passengers.
It was used as a pontoon before the new structure opens.
"We had the option of shutting down the entire service for the week or replacing the pontoon with another structure and this is a good alternative," Mr Thomson said.
