Redland City mayor Karen Williams said she would welcome A-list movie star Johnny Depp to the city if filming of his latest Pirates of the Caribbean moves to Redland.
Cr Williams said she was still not sure if filming would move to Raby Bay but she had heard rough seas at the Gold Coast had prevented filming.
She said the calm waters of Raby Bay were perfect for filming and so were other parts of the city, which had already been the backdrop for the 2009 hit Narnia.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, was filmed at Cleveland Point, where the set featured a 45 metre-long, 12-metre high ship built on a gimbal so it could pitch and tilt to give the impression it was on rough seas.
