A STRADBROKE Ferries car barge was left high and dry for the second time in less than five months.
The barge was due to leave Russell Island at 7.20am on Wednesday when disaster struck - the tide went out.
More than six vehicles and trucks were stranded on the island for more than eight hours.
They had to be backed off the barge, which was not expected to be refloated until high tide at 4pm.
Russell Island resident Jen Farrier was unable to make her appointment at the Sunshine Coast.
"Being stranded on the island in beautiful Moreton Bay with the sun shining isn't so bad," she said.
However, truck workers said being stranded put them a day behind at work.
Stradbroke Ferries cancelled 20 Russell Island voyages to and from Redland Bay but kept services to the other three southern bay islands.
It is the second time the barge has run aground since January 21 when the Spring high tide ran out faster than usual leaving the barge stranded in the mud.
