The community is being encouraged to come together and support local boy Joseph Burgess.
Eight-year-old Joseph was diagnosed with Schizencephaly at birth, a rare neurological disorder, similar to Cerebral Palsy, that affects his motor skills and cognitive ability leaving left him wheelchair bound.
The disorder, affecting one in 100,000, has severely affected his bodily development and muscle tone, with Joseph unable to support himself or to walk.
Through this, his parents Susan and Les have worked with Joseph on hydrotherapy treatment.
However, with Whyalla Leisure Centre's pools set at a generalised temperature unsuited to Joseph's needs, his family has decided to fundraise for his very own hydrotherapy spa so he can continue his treatment.
The spa, which will be suited to Joseph's needs, will have several adjustable jets to focus on his legs and controlled temperatures, is valued at $10,000.
A significant cost to the family, Mrs Burgess said the family needed to fundraise much of the value.
A Facebook page was then made to gain some interest in the family's fundraising endeavours and since then it has blown up - recruiting countless people to help host a fundraising event.
On Saturday, July 4 a fundraising dinner and dance will be held at Centrals Whyalla Football Club, who kindly donated the venue free of charge, from 6.30 until late.
Patrons will be treated to a three course meal, catered by Kelsey Schrapel and dessert will be supplied by Julieanne Williams.
Audiences will be entertained by DJ Brooke Nieborg, Melissa Jane Schenck, live acoustic group Two's Company as well as Vic Sturgeon and Ted Kittel performing country hits.
"It started out small, but it's grown so much," Mrs Burgess said.
"I can't believe the support we've had from people in the community."
Mrs Burgess said they planned to hold an auction on the night, which will feature auctioneer Wayne Foran, in order to raise as much as possible.
So far, the family had received donations from Sandy's Gift Baskets, Shelley Cousins, Herbaceous Naturals, and the Mens Shed but Mrs Burgess said she was hoping to gain more support from businesses and individuals in the community.
Currently, they are looking for prizes to auction on the night, prizes to be used in continuing raffle sales, and volunteers to help run the night.
Tickets are $40 per person for a three course meal and a discounted price is available for groups.
