Greater Western Sydney coach Leon Cameron has defended the Giants' big brother club the Gold Coast Suns and their horrendous start to the 2015 season.
With comparisons raging over the playing lists and performances of the AFL's two franchise clubs, Cameron said the commentary had under-estimated Gold Coast's injuries, which had hit the Suns' most competitive players.
"I know they've had a few little issues along the way," said Cameron, "but the main point is they've had double the injuries of other clubs to so many important players.
"Jaeger O'Meara and David Swallow are animals, they're just such competitive beasts and there's no one more competitive than Gary Ablett. (Tom) Lynch has missed a couple and he's another great competitor and Steven May got rubbed out for three weeks for being competitive."
Of his former mentor Rodney Eade — Cameron worked under Eade at the Western Bulldogs for three years — the GWS coach said: "He'll probably shake up the place where it needs to be cleaned up and they'll be fine.
"There's no doubt 'Rocket' will tidy up a few off-field issues but what he's going through now is exactly what we were going through last year and people over-reacted to that."
