Bayside artists Gail Higgins and Deidre Thom have much in common, including their interest in painting Australia's beautiful native birds and flowers.
It is this interest in sharing a love of nature through their art that has resulted in their joint exhibition at The Old Schoolhouse Gallery in June, titled Petal and Plume.
The exhibition showcases Deidre's delicate watercolours for which she has won several awards from the Queensland Watercolour Society.
A master pastellist and award-winning wildlife artist, Gail uses paint and pencil as well as pastel in her work.
"I try to share an experience I have had with our beautiful and often common native birds and to capture the intrinsic nature of them on paper or canvas," Gail said.
Both artists are members of the Queensland Wildlife Artists Society and the Australian Guild of Realist Artists.
Meet the artists for coffee and cake on the gallery veranda on Saturday, June 13 from 10.30am to 2.30pm. All are welcome.
The exhibition runs from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June June 28. The gallery is open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
The Old Schoolhouse Gallery is at 124 Shore Street North, Cleveland, just past the Grand View Hotel when driving towards Cleveland Point. Entry is free and there are ample off-street parking spaces available.
