Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath says her door is open for whenever Tim Carmody makes his decision about whether to stay or go as Chief Justice, but she will not be offering him anything to make the decision easier.
Justice Carmody made the decision to go public with his preparedness to resign, which he presented to the government in late April, on Monday.
He also issued a series of conditions he would like the government to agree to ahead of any departure.
As part of his legacy, if he chooses to pull the pin, Justice Carmody wants to see the courts and judiciary, which resisted his appointment from the get-go, reformed.
That includes seeing a judicial commission put in place as well as a protocol for appointing magistrates and judges.
Justice Carmody plans on releasing his "clear vision for change" and laying out "a pathway to (a) transparent, trustworthy, accountable 21st-century court system we can all be confident in" on Friday.
"I deeply hope that this vision can be accompanied by a mandated, bipartisan, action plan worthy of the civil society our hard working courts strive to support every day," he said in a statement issued on Monday.
The statement also made mention of "those resistance to change and modernisation", who had "made it their primary goal to force me out, seemingly at all costs".
"I am willing to resign on just terms, not for them, not to because of them, but to break the impasse we now find ourselves in".
That impasse has seen a cold war between himself and the state's next most senior judge, Margaret McMurdo, go public, as well as revelations Justice John Byrne taped a conversation he had with Justice Carmody, and retiring judges, such as Alan Wilson, publicly question his leadership and work ethic.
In his statement he referred to it as "serious cultural and structural problems within the judiciary", something he is expected to expand on in his speech on Friday.
As for changes he would like to see within the courts, Justice Carmody has previously argued for court proceedings to be broadcast live, in much the same way Parliament is, as well as for 'cheatsheet' style judgement summaries, much the same as the High Court uses, made available to make the courts more accessible.
Ms D'Ath said while investigating a judicial commission was part of the government's plan, it would not be, and could not be, under Justice Carmody's conditions.
"It is important that any consideration of establishing a judicial commission, or a similar body, must be done based on the facts, based on what other information is out there based on other jurisdictions and what it is we're hoping to achieve from such a body," she said.
"It shouldn't be a reaction to a particular incident, whether it is a particular decision from a magistrate, or a judge, or whether it is the issues that we are now seeing played out across the Supreme Court, we need to look at this more broadly - is this in the interests of our justice system in Queensland and what is it we want it to achieve."
As for offering any other inducement, such as an early pension, the government's hands are tied by the law.
"I can certainly advise I have not offered him anything, in fact, that is an offence to offer an inducement to leave office," she said.
Justice Carmody, who is on sick leave for a back issue, is not entitled to the judicial pension for another three years.
Under legislation, he has the job of Chief Justice until he reaches retirement age, which is not for at least another decade.
It would also be impossible for him to move to another position which offers the same pension benefits as the judiciary, such as the head of the Crime and Corruption Commission, as the recruitment process initiated by the new government is at the tail end.
"The CCC applications have been opened and closed in relation to that position," Ms D'Ath said.
"The Chief Justice was not one of those applicants, I am considering the applications, I have been conducting interviews and am currently shortlisting.
"We will shortly be bringing a proposed nominee to the PCCC and I will have discussions with the Opposition, as the proper process requires."
The government remains in much the same position it was a week ago, while shadow Attorney-General Ian Walker said it was a "generous" proposal from Justice Carmody, which could be seen as a "starting point".
Former Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie, who elevated Justice Carmody to the Chief Justice role, did not make any public comment on the situation, but used social media to re-tweet a comment calling for Justice McMurdo to resign.

While Justice Carmody has publicly stated he is prepared to resign for the good of the courts, he has not set out a timeframe for when, or explained what would happen if the government did not meet his conditions.
Ms D'Ath flew back to Brisbane from Rockhampton on Monday afternoon, announcing she was willing to meet with Justice Carmody on Tuesday or any day this week.
As of Monday afternoon it was understood no meeting had been set.
With Justice Carmody on sick leave, Justice McMurdo remains acting Chief Justice.
