A Gold Coast man has been charged over a string of thefts from ATMs, bank safes and businesses in an alleged six-month crime spree.
The 39-year-old Upper Coomera man is alleged to have broken into banks, service stations and businesses across the Gold Coast, stealing cash from automatic teller machines, safes and cash registers, between Christmas Eve 2014 and May 27.
Coomera Criminal Investigation Branch detectives swooped on the man's home on Thursday, later charging him with 30 theft, damage and property-related offences.
The man's arrest came as part of Operation Effectivo, launched by Coomera detectives in January in response to a number of break-ins and the theft or attempted theft of cash from automatic teller machines at the Gold Coast.
He was remanded in custody to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday.
He faces more than 30 charges, including:
- 12 counts of enter premises and commit an indictable offence
- Four counts of enter premises with intent
- Three counts of attempted enter premises
- Eight charges of wilful damage and three of attempted stealing.
Police will allege the offences include break-ins, attempted stealing or wilful damage at the following premises:
