NORTH Stradbroke Island will continue with its Quandamooka Festival Opening Ceremony on Saturday, July 4.
However, the Native Title Commemoration, due to be held in the Dunwich Hall on Saturday, was cancelled following the death of island Quandamooka man and elder Uncle Vince Martin.
The Elders Day ceremony, due to be held on Sunday to mark the start of Naidoc week, was also cancelled in honour of Uncle Vince.
Uncle Vince played a large role in community life and was integral in establishing aged care facilities on the island.
His funeral will be held on Friday, July 10 at St Paul's of the Cross Catholic Church at Dunwich at 11am before burial at the cemetery.
The festival's opening ceremony will start at the waterfront in Dunwich at 9.30am on Saturday.
