OPPOSITION Leader Lawrence Springborg vowed to fight for Redlands infrastructure on a visit to the city on Tuesday.
Mr Springborg visited Weinam Creek and Cleveland-Redland Bay Road, both touted as key infrastructure priorities in Redlands.
He visited Weinam Creek ferry terminal with Redlands MP Matt McEachan, to get an insight into parking congestion at the busy transport hub.
“This area clearly needs to be redeveloped and car parking has reached its capacity,” he said.
“Redlands and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands continue to grow and we need to ensure there is adequate infrastructure to support the local community.”
Mr McEachan said he was working closely with Redland City Council and southern Moreton Bay island residents to improve the terminal’s parking facilities.
“I am looking forward to seeing the revised submission for the Weinam Creek redevelopment to ensure the best outcome for locals,” Mr McEachan said.
While in Redland city, Mr Springborg also met with Cleveland MP Mark Robinson to inspect busy Cleveland-Redland Bay Road.
“The LNP had a plan to deliver the much-needed dual lanes along Cleveland-Redland Bay Road and this Labor government should honour and deliver what was a fully-funded project,” Mr McEachan said.
Cleveland MP Mark Robinson said the Government needed to lift its 'infrastructure freeze' on Redland City and invest in Cleveland Roads to make them safer and to ease traffic congestion in our growing city."
Mr Springborg said that it was disappointing the Palaszczuk Government was hiking up registration fees but not willing to invest in fixing congested roads.
