CLEVELAND-based company Improve Group Learning Solutions was named one of the top six small businesses in the state at an awards ceremony on Thursday.
Judges of the prestigious Small Business section of the Telstra Business Awards commended the group on the innovative ways it helped customers do better.
Improve Group Learning Solutions managing director Bob Carter said competition for the award was "tight" and his company was one of six finalists out of more than 300.
The top gong went to Forest Lake's Beginning Boutique, an online fashion retailer selling in-house designed garments and wholesale stock.
Other finalists were from the IT sector and manufacturing.
Mr Carter started his business in Cleveland 10 years ago to help individuals and businesses improve operational performance.
Improve is now one of Australia's leading training providers working with industry groups such as Manufacturing Skills Australia, to design and deliver innovative training programs tailored to clients.
"We are helping to grow Redland city into a centre of excellence for education - focusing on construction and business improvement training," he said.
"We are looking forward to the new Toondah Harbour redevelopment and plans to attract overseas and interstate students in 2016 for a new Diploma of Production Management programs.
"Winning a Telstra Business Award is a great honour and cause for our team to celebrate as it provides great endorsement and positions us as an employer of choice in the Redlands," he said.
