MORE than 100 people turned out in Birkdale on July 26 to celebrate Planet Ark's National Tree Day.
Locals and visitors pitched in to help with the Redlands Indigi-Scapes community planting of 3000 new plants at Birkdale, which aimed to provide more wildlife habitat and improve water quality along the Tingalpa Creek Conservation Corridor.
National Tree Day is Australia's largest community tree-planting event, providing opportunities for communities to reconnect with nature. Since the event began in 1996, more than three million people have planted 21 million trees across the country.
