Jerry Collins (New Zealand)
Born in Samoa, Jerry Collins was capped 48 times for New Zealand.
Tragically in June he and his partner Alana Madills were killed in a car accident in France which also seriously injured their daughter. Aged 34, Collins had been playing for the ProD2 team Narbonne. He was an icon for Hurricanes and All Blacks rugby.
After retiring from international rugby in May, 2008, Collins played for Toulon in France, Ospreys in Wales and then Yamaha Jubilo in Japan. After a spell from rugby in 2014, he joined Narbonne as a joker to cover for injured Australian Rocky Elsom.

Owen Finegan (Australia)
A Randwick rugby club stalwart and a founding member of the ACT Brumbies, Owen Finegan, nicknamed 'Melon', debuted for Australia against Wales in 1986. He earned 56 Test caps in a career that culminated with him scoring a try in injury time of the 1999 World Cup that Australia won.
While he was the Australian player of the year in 2011, he missed out on selection for the 2003 World Cup in Australia. Afterwards, Finegan, now 43, went over to play for various clubs in England and then Ireland before returning to Australia in 2008 to become an assistant coach at the Brumbies.

Richard Hill (England)
Now 42, Richard Hill was known for his abrasive play with his hard hits and ball carries and dogged support play and work rate at the breakdown. His Test career started with him at openside flanker, but was switched to blindside by English coach Clive Woodward to accommodate Neil Back at No.7 and Laurence Dallaglio at No.8.
It was a powerful combination in which Hill earned most of his 76 Test caps, of which 71 were for England and five for the British and Irish Lions. In the 2003 World Cup, a hamstring injury saw Hill miss the pool games and quarter-final, but he returned for England's wins in the semi-final against France and final over Australia

Jerome Kaino (New Zealand)
Born in American Samoa, Jerome Kaino plays for the All Blacks and the Auckland based Blues Super Rugby franchise. He comes to the World Cup with the experience of the 2011 tournament behind him having played every match, including the final they won.
A big game player with 60 Test caps, Kaino was the man of the match on his All Blacks debut in an uncapped game against the Barbarians at Twickenham. Known for his versatility and speed, and at age 32, Kaino is an integral component to the current All Blacks. Recent form indicates he is ominously about to hit his straps.

Francois Pienaar (South Africa)
For all of his 29 Test caps between 1993 and 1996, Francois Pienaar captained the Springboks – his biggest occasion being to victory in the 1995 World Cup final. It was a remarkable feat for the Springboks and their leader who went into their first World Cup seeded ninth but beat defending champions Australia, Romania, Canada, Western Samoa and then France in the semi-final.
They then beat New Zealand in the final at Ellis Park in a match attended by Nelson Mandela and that saw Pienaar, now 48, play with a calf muscle strain. Pienaar's Test days ended in 1996. He then joined English club Saracens as player-coach and continued playing there until 2000.
