NEW boundaries for Redland city's 10 electorates will be in place for next year's March19 poll.
Maps showing the boundaries were released by the Local Government Change Commission on Friday.
The commission listened to concerns about cutting Wellington Point out of Division 1, which will keep the iconic boating and picnic reserve.
However, the division will lose a part of Ormiston from Sturgeon Street to Finucane Road in order to stick to the commission's regulation of an average 9964 voters per division.
Divisional councillor Wendy Boglary said the commission had split Ormiston in two for no obvious gain.
“They took out the same number of voters from one area and then reinstated the same number from another area,” she said.
“To put Cleveland train station in with Alexandra Hills is ridiculous.
“What are they smoking in George Street?”
Changes to Division 2, currently held by Cr Craig Ogilvie, will take out a pocket from Beach Street to Smith Street in Cleveland.
That land will become part of Division 3, which will lose land west of Panorama Drive.
Division 4, currently held by Cr Lance Hewlett, will still include Coochiemudlo Island but lose land west of Eprapah Creek. It will no longer include Faith Lutheran High School or Pinklands.
One of the more major changes will be slicing Redland Bay in half so that the Village will remain in Division 5 but all land west of Main Street will be in Division 6.
A triangular area encompassing Clay Gully, bordered by Cleveland-Redland Bay Road, Double Jump Road and Bunker Road will be relinquished from Division 6, along with land bordered by Springacre Road.
Division 7, held by Cr Murray Elliott, will gain land from Taylor Road, to Bunker Road and north to South Street and land from Crotona Road, Windermere Road to Finucane Road.
Deputy Mayor Alan Beard's Division 8 will gain land bounded by Elizabeth Drive, Allenby Road and McMillan Road east to the train line at Alexandra Hills.
Division 9 will gain land north of Daveson Road, to take in the Howeston Golf Course, an area once in Division 10. It will lose land from Crotona Road east to Windemere Road.
Under the Local Government Act, the city's 99,635 voters have to be equally spread across the 10 divisions, plus or minus 10 per cent.
The commission's new boundaries were drawn up after public consultation, taking into consideration submissions from council and the public.
