TREADING the boards comes naturally for Ormiston College student Vincent D’Amico who has won five of the nation's top acting accolades.
The year 8 student was crowned Australian champion in drama solo, improvisation, mime and poetry recital in the 13-14-year-age category at the Australian National Eisteddfod in Canberra in October.
The aspiring NIDA student was runner up in the reading at sight category.
The teenager entered the national competition after winning the title of Queensland champion in the open section for improvisation.
In that competition, he was runner up for duologue with Bianca Allen and won an acknowledgment in the character category.
His proud mother, Cheryl, who is a qualified drama teacher said a string of strong performances at the state level gave him the opportunity to compete in Canberra.
He was named Brisbane’s senior runner-up champion and, in Beenleigh, he won the top awards for best overall performance, open drama and creative intermediate.
In Wynnum Manly, he also won the top prize for most outstanding potential age award.
For all of those competitions at Brisbane, Beenleigh, Ipswich, Gold Coast and Wynnum Manly he received 19 gold medals, three trophies, six silver, three bronze and two highly commended.
This year, Vincent gained Redlands Acting and Drama Academy's highest mark at an eisteddfod and also an A+ from Trinity College in 2014.
