TWO notoriously dangerous Redland roads will be upgraded after the state government allocated about $4million to make the city's roads safer.
Traffic lights will be installed at the busy intersection of Giles Road and Cleveland-Redland Bay Road at a cost of $2,988,100.
Turning lanes will also be added at the intersection, which is about 400m from Redland Bay State School.
A further $999,000 will be spent on signals and improved lighting at the intersection of Bloomfield Street and Bay Street.
The intersection has been identified as a problem spot for drivers.
The road safety improvements are part of the state government's $62million package Safer Roads Sooner program.
Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the program would bring cost-effective solutions for trouble spots where crashes were likely.
Capalaba MP Don Brown said he hoped the upgrades would reduce the road toll at the city’s notoriously dangerous spots.
