Uncle Jack has visited Cleveland and Bardon and now comes to the Birkdale School of Arts for a final airing on March 4 and 5.
Staged as the annual Australia Day play, Uncle Jack is being performed under the Mates Theatre Genesis banner for three shows.
Uncle Jack is presented as a comedy with music with instrumental backing and pre-show and interval music provided by local jazz ensemble, Mama Juju and the Jam Tarts.
In the play Harold and Maude Connolly’s 50th wedding anniversary celebrations have been organised by their daughters, Lorna and Claire. When Harold’s brother Jack makes an unexpected appearance, the evening takes a hilarious turn as true identities are revealed.
Will Claire have enough tablets to cope? And why does the entertainer take a liking to Harold?
Mates Theatre Society has performed this hilarious Australian comedy in 2007, ironically with current cast member, Elise O’Brien performing in that production.
Performances are at 7.45pm (doors open at 7pm) on March 4 and 5 and at 2pm (doors open at 1.15pm) on March 5. Tickets are $ 20 and light Snacks and a licensed bar are available. Patrons should note the usual light supper will not be served. Book on 0416 836 196; bookings@matestheatresociety.com.au
