Hundreds of people gathered alongside the water in Redland Bay for the Anzac Day Dawn Service.
Dozens of veterans sat together in front of the cenotaph as the service was led by John Clifton.
Children were evident in every part of the service with the national anthems of Australia and New Zealand sung by Cleveland District State High School student Leah Lever, students from Redland Bay State School reading In Flanders Field and a performance by the Mount Cotton State School choir.
Children also flocked to the cenotaph to lay rosemary posies around the base when invited to participate at the end of the wreath laying ceremony.
Bugler Peter Francis played the Last Post and Reveille and Mathew Fisher the Pipers Lament.
The ceremony marked 101 years since Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed on the beaches of Gallipoli on April 25, 1915.
The service was a reminder of Australians who served and died in war and on operational service and an opportunity to remember the spirit of Anzac.
Mr Clifton announced at the end of the service that the Redland Bay RSL had been renamed Bayside South RSL Sub-Branch.
