BMX riders aged from two to 50 years old took part in the Max Haley Memorial Open Day at Redlands BMX Club in Capalaba on Saturday.
About 370 riders in 450 class entries battled it out for the prime positions.
The Max Haley trophy went to Bradley Game from Wanneroo BMX Club in Western Australia, who set a new track record of 29.771 seconds.
The trophy was presented by Mr Haley’s daughter, Kellie Haley Chapman, who travelled from Toowoomba.
The Redlands BMX Club’s annual event is in memory of Mr Haley, who was widely respected in the BMX world.
He participated in BMX for 16 years as a parent, chief steward and referee before he died on February 26, 1996.
Redlands BMX Club races the first three Fridays of the month and has gates practice on Wednesday nights.
Anyone interested in joining can contact the club via secretary@redlandsbmx.org or visit them at the track behind the PCYC at Degan Road, Capalaba.
