A THORNLANDS author hopes to turn a book launch into a fundraising venture for the Calisto Park Equestrian Centre.
The Thornlands centre conducts horse riding, horse handling and therapy for people with disabilities.
Author Joanne Verikios said the launch would be a stylish afternoon tea for 100 in the Carriage Room Restaurant at Pine Lodge _ home of Calisto _ on Sunday, July 3.
Ms Verikios will launch her book Winning Horsemanship. A Judge's Secrets and Tips for Your Success at the event.
She said she had approached Calisto to offer support after attending an open day and learning that the charity was struggling.
"The CPEC team does wonderful work by making horse riding and horse therapy accessible to people with disabilities and special needs,'' she said.
"It was heart warming to see first hand the amazing impact on both the young clients and their parents alike.
"...Horses have been my life and anybody who experiences that bond with a horse or pony is blessed, so I am committed to help raise funds and awareness to keep CPEC going.''
The launch will cost $30 and will include raffles, speakers and an auction. A total of 10 per cent of book sales will go to Calisto.
Ms Verikios can be contacted on 0475-681998 for tickets or to donate goods or time to help with the event.
