Residents and past students of Birkdale State School are invited to support the school community in the lead up to November’s Centenary Celebrations, when they come to vote at the school hall on election day, Saturday, July 2.
In addition to the P&C sausage sizzle and cake stall, members of the Centenary sub-committee will have a range of memorabilia for sale.
There will also be a display of class photographs from 1916-1980, inviting local people to help name any unidentified students.
The busy Parents and Citizens Group has nominated for P&C of the Year Award and has many projects on the go, including implementing landscape architect plans for an outdoor classroom, incorporating a series of learning spaces.
On November 27, the community is invited to celebrate Birkdale State School's 100th Anniversary, which will include opening of the time capsule from the 1980s.
That will be followed by a series of stalls and events, culminating in fireworks in the evening co-ordinated by past students who run Redlands-based SEQ business, Mr Fireworks.
