A whirlwind few days for St Kilda teenager Jade Gresham have been capped by a Rising Star nomination.
Gresham, 18, was among the Saints' heroes in Saturday night's thrilling three-point win over Geelong at Etihad Stadium. He kicked a brilliant goal from the pocket late in the game to help his side to a surprise victory.
Taken at pick-18 in last year's draft, the diminutive dasher has played 10 games this season: his 16 disposals against the Cats was an equal career-best showing.
St Kilda coach Alan Richardson paid tribute to the youngster on Monday.
"Gresham's continued effort and willingness to learn in his first year at the club has been really impressive," Richardson said.
"His performance on Saturday night demonstrated the type of composed and aggressive player that he is, with his goal in the last moments of the fourth quarter being just one obvious example of his composure.
"Gresham was one of a few young players on Saturday night who showed real signs of improvement against a more experienced Geelong side."
Gresham is the Saints' second Rising Star nominee this year, with Blake Acres receiving a nomination for his game against Melbourne in round six.
