North Melbourne have re-signed two of their forwards in Mason Wood and Lindsay Thomas, on four- and two-year deals respectively.
The re-signings cast some doubt on the future of fellow Roos forward Drew Petrie, who is out of contract at the end of this season.
Petrie, 33, has made it clear that he wants to play on in 2017, but some recent poor form had left his future at the club in even more doubt, although he performed well against Collingwood on Friday night.
Earlier this month, coach Brad Scott said that he had yet to inform Petrie whether he was wanted for next season.
Several other clubs had shown interest in Wood, 22, but North Melbourne list manager Cameron Joyce said the young Roo was "always keen to stay at Arden Street".
"He has a very bright future at North," Joyce told the North Melbourne website.
Joyce also had praise for veteran Thomas.
"He can turn a game in a matter of minutes and the growth he's had as a player and person is phenomenal," he said.
"We're delighted to have these two outstanding young men at the club."
