Business confidence in Queensland has hit a five-year-high, with Brisbane the most confident capital in the nation.
But confidence in the Palaszczuk government has not followed the same trend, the latest Sensis small and medium business survey has found, with the government suffering a nine-point drop in the past quarter, to sit as the most unpopular government, as judged by business owners, in Australia.
The regular survey of 1000 Australian businesses taken before the federal election showed Queensland business owners, particularly in the city, had a better outlook on their expectations for profitability, sales and their own business strengths, jumping six points since March.
That followed the national trend, which also jumped nine points to its own five-year high.
But confidence in the Palaszczuk government did not follow suit.
"Despite the strong result, Queensland remains slightly below the national average, with concerns about sales and government policy lingering," Sensis CEO John Allan said in a statement.
The most common complaints - "a lack of incentives or support" and "excessive bureaucracy" - follow Treasurer Curtis Pitt's second budget, which had been focused on jobs growth.
The survey is based on business owner's perception of their immediate future.
