The Redland Bombers crashed to their biggest ever loss in NEAF history on Saturday when a rampant GWS Giants side dished out a 150-point thumping at Spotless Stadium.
It was the second loss over 100 points in a row for the Bombers as they slumped to a 26.18 (174) to 3.6 (24) defeat.
The Giants opened the match with a six-goal-to-one opening term and led by 53 at the main break.
Redland were kept to just two behinds in the third as the goals kept piling on, as the Giants finished off a dominant performance with nine goal to one in the last.
Captain Sam Reid top-scored with four goals, but he wasn’t alone in the Giants attack as they produced eight multiple goal-scorers.
Midfielder Jack Steele continues to push for an AFL recall after amassing 43 disposals, 11 clearances, nine inside 50s and two goals.
Defender Jeremy Finlayson was formidable in defence with 30 disposals and 15 marks, and Jacob Hopper also ran amok with 37 disposals, 12 clearances and two goals.
Blake Grewar was a shining light for the Bombers through the midfield with 36 disposals and seven clearances, was Dylan Adkins in defence, captain Tom Salter (30 disposals, 10 marks, 10 rebound 50s) and Adam Boon (22 disposals, seven rebound 50s) battled hard in defence under enormous pressure.
Redland will take on ninth-placed Canberra at Tidbold Park next week in their final game of the season.
The last time these two sides met back in Round 14 when the Demons won a thriller by eight points.
The Giants have run into some ominous form on the eve of the finals series to be among the top contenders for this year’s premiership.
They will host last-placed Brisbane next week before a home Elimination Final against either defending premier NT Thunder or Southport.
