Paul Stokell of Ormiston took out fourth fastest lap overall and in the Formula Libre racing class at the Leyburn Sprints on August 20 and 21.
Stokell drove a 2009 1500cc Radical SR3 and took the place against a field of 214 cars. His fastest lap around the historic Leyburn town was recorded at 45.3431 seconds.
With this his second year of competition in the sprints, Stokell said he enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of the race, saying they were less pressure and more about ‘having fun’.
“This is a chance for the general day punter to do quite well,” he said.
At the sprints, Stokell was also able to provide hot laps for interested passengers, something he does regularly through his Driving Events business at Mount Cotton and other racing venues.
For these opportunities, Stokell uses his Radical and also offers a Lotus experience. Stokell also teaches defensive driving and advanced car control classes.
