A snake has been rescued from likely death by two surveyors working in Wellington Point.
Ben North and Chris Gottardo were clearing bush near a fence to put in a peg when the green tree snake reared it’s head.
“I screamed and then realised it was stuck,” said Mr North.
They tried for nearly two hours to coax the snake out of the hole in the fence post at the Wellesley Street property.
The surveyors said the snake was not antagonistic.
“It just recoiled a bit while we were tugging on him,” said Mr Gottardo.
Finally, encouraged on the phone by Redlands snake catcher Tony Morrison, Mr North tugged the snake really hard until it came free.
“As soon as it came out it was really powerful and strong and I just let it go,” said Mr North.
Mr Morrison said he identified the snake from photographs and and suggested the surveyors tried to pull it out because it would have died if it was left there.
