THE Kunjiel (corroboree) celebrated the closing season of the Quandamooka Festival on North Stradbroke Island or Minjerribah as locals call it.
Kunjiel brought together traditional and contemporary Indigenous dance, music and arts for a memorable day on the one dance ground.
The day featured dreaming stories from Winnam (Wynnum), Narlung (Manly), Cullen-Cullen (Wellington Point), Mulgumpin (Moreton Island), Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island), Nandeebie (Cleveland), Canaipa (Russell Island), Jencoomercha (Macleay Island), Ngudooroo (Lamb Island), Coochie Mudlo Island, Turkroorar (Peel Island), Tangeera (Green Island), Noogoon (St Helena) and Bungumba (Mud Island).
There were plenty of locals on hand to enjoy the day as these pictures show, courtesy of Redland City Council officer Kristen Banks.
