ORMISTON State School has celebrated a spectacular book week parade.
Library coordinator Raline Nielson and music teacher Elizabeth Patterson created and directed an extraordinary event that they reckon will be remembered for a long time.
The first theme presented was the 2016 Bookweek Theme “Australia Story Country’’ and featured the school and resource captains in an inspiring stage production, showcasing author Jackie French.
The second half of the presentation was a Rio Olympics theme.
Mrs Nielson (Jewel the parrot from Rio movie) and Mrs Patterson (Queen Elizabeth) with some year 5 students captivated the audience and delivered Jackie French’s powerful message that “books have the power to change lives’’.
A parade of all students and staff followed.
It celebrated the joy of reading which is highly valued and embraced by the Ormiston school community.
Acting principal Andrea French said: “Mrs Nielson and Mrs Patterson created the most inspiring and professional Bookweek Parade ever seen at Ormiston State School.
“We are so very proud of our dedicated staff and wonderful students.’’
