STAR Community Services celebrated its 20 year anniversary of serving the Redlands Community, at its 2016 annual general meeting at Lions Community Hall in Cleveland.
To celebrate the significant milestone, Cr Lance Hewlet helped cut the cake. Also attending were Mark Robinson MP, current and past employees, volunteers, clients, community leaders and original committee members Kath McNeilly and Meg O’Driscoll.
The Special Transport Assistance Redlands Association Incorporated or STAR was established in 1996, in response to the need of affordable and quality transport service for older people and people with disabilities living in the Redlands.
Now with a fleet of 43 vehicles including 21 owner-driver vehicles, STAR is now a leading not-for-profit organisation in Queensland, providing transport and quality care to help frail, aged, and people with disabilities live a healthier, independent life.
STAR Chairman Mr Rob Spencer, presented the strategic plan for STAR for the coming years, which now includes not only the My Aged Care clients but also the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) clients.
“Today is a momentous occasion for all our clients, staff and volunteers. We are extremely proud to have served our community for last two decades with continuous improvements and introduction of new services”, Mr Spencer said.
At the celebrations, a new website was launched: www.StarCommunityServices.org.au
