Redlands Tigers players suffered a hard day at the office last Saturday and Sunday and will be keen to make amends this weekend. Under 16 Taverners player Jesse Burns was the star of the round so far scoring a brilliant 117 runs against a strong Norths team.
1st Grade playing at home, spent most of the day in the field watching as the Valleys batsmen took the long handle to our bowlers. Valleys declared eight down for 350 with Jon Stimpson and Michael Herdman each taking three wickets. Redlands were none for 27 at the end of play and will look to match Valleys score this Saturday.
2nd Grade scored 239 runs against Valleys with skipper Liam Kelly top scoring with 89. Mitch Drennan 32, Jamie Ryan 29 and Craig Weier 26 also added valuable runs. The Tigers bowlers will have to work hard this Saturday to defend their total.
3rd Grade were dismissed for 133 runs with Jason Grosvenor top scoring for the Tigers with 36. At stumps on day one Valley’s were none for 65 as Redlands face an uphill battle to defend their score.
4th Grade no 1 also chased the red ball around the paddock last Saturday as Valleys ended day one on six down for 374 runs. The Redlands boys will be on the hunt for runs this Saturday and with plenty of patience, are strong enough to chase down that score.
4th Grade no 2 are playing Wests at home on our number three fielded and were the team of the day as they dismissed the opposition for 159. Mitch Davis, Jake Richards and Jacob Apted took the bowling honours for the Tigers. At stumps Redlands were two for 57 requiring a further 103 runs to take first innings points.
5th Grade also chased the ball around the Peter Burge oval on Sunday as Valleys piled on 245 runs. However the Tigers boys held on and fought back to capture eight wickets by the end of play on day one. Jason Hill was the pick of our bowlers taking three wickets. Another big run chase coming up for the Tigers this weekend.
6th Grade no 1 also playing at home on Sunday got off to a solid start especially from Scott Butters who scored 77 and Paul Bonney 35. Unfortunately the wheels fell off once they were dismissed and Redlands finished with 160 runs. At stumps on day one Valleys were three down for 106. It’s a big job ahead for the Tigers but Captain Cassell will make sure that the boys put in a big effort to hopefully dismiss the opposition for under 160 runs.
6th Grade no 2 must have still been getting over their big win the previous week as they were six down for 20 runs at stumps chasing University’s score of 197. The Redlands bowlers in Jake Franklin, Jordan Telford and Mitchell Jenson helped to reduce University to 197 runs but our batsmen let the opposition back into the game and they will be looking for outright points this Saturday.
Redlands U/16 Taverners lost to Norths 241 to 308 despite a great innings from Jesse Burns who top scored with 117 runs. M Ford took the bowling honour with four wickets.
Redlands Women’s 2nd Grade team put up a good fight against a strong Gold Coast team. Redlands scored 7/182 with Evie Massingham top scoring with 60, Kate McDonald 24 and Clodagh Ryall 16 not out. Gold Coast finished with six down for 185. Summmer-Rose Briskey took 2 for 8 and Kate McDonald 1 for 17.
Congratulations to our all our junior players who represented Redlands in the under 16 Shane Watson Cup and the under 15 Ray Weier Cup. Hopefully once all scores come in, we might have a team in the finals.
