Redlands Tigers came away with two wins and a draw in the current round.
Fourth Grade no 2 team and Sixth Grade no 1 had a good wins, with Fifth Grade holding on for a draw.
Highlights from the round were centuries to Michael Moss (108), Dylan Grey (102 not out) in Fourth Grade and Brandon James (111) in Fifth Grade. Mitch Davis also took nine wickets for the game in Fourth Grade. Scott Butters hit 77 runs and took four wickets in Sixth Grade. Well done to all players.
1st Grade playing at home, looked on track to chase down the Valleys’ score of 350 runs but unfortunately lost crucial wickets towards the end, as the earlier batsmen had done well to put the Tigers in with a good chance of a win. Steven Moss, Harry Tyler and Nick Hurford were the top run scorers
2nd Grade scored 239 runs against Valleys on day one and were looking to defend that score last Saturday but unfortunately were unable to come away with a win. The Tigers bowlers lead by Lenny Watt and Charles Mailli, who both took three wickets, worked hard all day as Valley’s finished on 9 for 255.
3rd Grade were dismissed for 133 runs on day one and Valleys were none for 65 at stumps. Unfortunately, Redlands were not able to stop Valleys from scoring 251 runs for the loss of six wickets. Josh Thompson and Robert Ballarino bowled well, each taking three wickets. The Tigers boys batted again and were dismissed for 121 just before stumps with Adam Pearson top scoring with 45 runs.
4th Grade no 1 chased the red ball around the paddock last Saturday as Valleys scored 374 for the loss of eight wickets. The Tigers batsmen could not match the effort put on by Valleys and were dismissed for 89 with Andrew Barrie top scoring with 35 runs. Redlands batted again and were none for 72 at stumps.
4th Grade no 2 played Wests at home and enjoyed an outright victory. Redlands required 159 runs for a first innings win, scored 319 runs thanks to centuries from skipper Michael Moss and Dylan Grey. It was a delight to watch both these two young players in action. Wests batted again and were dismissed for 88 runs as Mitch Davis and Jake Richards took them apart. Mitch finished with nine wickets for the game. Great effort Tigers.
5th Grade playing at home on Sunday, were chasing 303 runs for victory and put up a good fight until bad light stopped play. Brandon James put on a superb batting display as he scored 111 runs with good support added by C Barker 48, Pat Cummins 34 and Jason Hill 33 not out, who held things together at the very end. Redlands finished with 275 for the loss of nine wickets.
6th Grade no 1 also played at home on Sunday and had a very close win by nine runs over Valleys. Chasing 161 to win, the opposition were put under strong pressure by the Redlands bowlers especially Scott Butters and James Cullen. Valleys were dismissed for 151 and Redlands batted again scoring only 63 for the loss of seven wickets. Fortunately, bad light prevented any further play.
6th Grade no 2 were six down for 20 runs at stumps on day one chasing University’s score of 197. Redlands were bowled out for 97 with Will Read top scoring with 40 not out. Batting again the Tigers were six down for 123 runs with Will Read 36 and their skipper James Read 25 runs holding things together.
Redlands U/16 Taverners were in all sorts of trouble in their game against Souths last Sunday. At one stage Redlands were three wickets down for no score. Fortunately, Raghav Goel steadied things for the young Tigers as he scored 93 valuable runs. Brad Nicholls gave good support scoring 36 runs as Redlands put on 189 runs. Souths finished on 190 for the loss of eight wickets with four balls to spare. Jacob Apted bowled well taking five wickets and Aidan Bryant chipped in with two wickets.
1st Grade scored 273 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their one day game against Wynnum Manly. Martin Miers top scored with 58 with Cameron Brimblecombe 46 not out and Liam Smith 45 not out adding valuable runs with some big hitting. Unfortunately, Wynnum/Manly chased down the required runs with two overs to spare as the Tigers struggled to take wickets.
Redlands Women’s 2nd Grade team had a bye last weekend and will play their first game for the season at home this Sunday.
