Redland crooner Craig Martin brings his show The Beatles Swing to the Concert Hall of the Old Museum, Gregory Terrace at 7pm on Saturday, November 5 and 1pm on Sunday, November 6.
Martin, who is from Liverpool, is the only performer in the world to have permission from SONY/ATV to swing 25 Beatles songs in one show. The show features an eight-piece swing band and two-girl backing vocalists.
Martin will perform the show overseas early next year, with Vegas firmly within his sights.
“I has played The Cavern Club in Liverpool many times as a young musician and toured with Liverpool music legend Gerry Marsen (Gerry and the Pacemakers) extensively throughout the 1990's before moving from Rock and Roll to Swing in the early 2000's and singing with the UK's premier big bands,” Martin said.
These bands included the Syd Lawrence Orchestra.
“This show combines a passions for rock n' roll, The Beatles and a big band. We say this show is about making 'old new again' and bringing The Beatles back to an old audience but with a twist and introducing a new generation to The Beatles.
“With such exciting music programs in schools, we have found a real passionatate following from the younger generation who want to hear familiar songs played big band style. This is not a tribute show. It’s rather a celebration of Beatles and the big band sound,” he said.
Tickets are $49. Book online at www.oldmuseum.org or phone 3257 4089.
