Hummingbird House raises funds through Coles at Capalaba Central

In addition to donations received from kind-hearted shoppers and team members, Coles stores in Queensland have announced a further donation of $52,000 to fund food supplies for the Hummingbird House kitchen for an entire year.

Hummingbird House Co-Founder Paul Quilliam said he was deeply grateful to have Coles as a partner  across Queensland.”

“The support and engagement from Coles team members and customers across the State is overwhelming. All have generously given to deliver a lasting impact for Queensland children and their families who need Hummingbird House,” he said.

Hummingbird House is Queensland’s only children’s hospice.

Coles Queensland State General Manager Paul Bradshaw thanked customers for their generosity and support for Hummingbird House.

“This vital service will make such a difference to so many families during an emotional and challenging time in their lives,” he said.

“The local community has shown a particularly compassionate response to the fundraising campaign and we are incredibly thankful to our customers and our store teams for helping to make Hummingbird House a reality.

“We are also thrilled to offer additional support to the hospice during its first year, with a donation of $1000 each week for supplies for the Hummingbird House kitchen.”

Brisbane Chef Mat Fury will be running the hospice’s kitchen, selecting fresh food and groceries daily from local Coles supermarkets to feed the families staying at Hummingbird House.

Fundraising efforts in Capalaba contributed to a total of almost $400,000 worth of donations across the state, which will help to fund travel costs for regional and remote families to access the hospice, musical therapy, and aquatic physiotherapy sessions.

The 2016 campaign builds on the success of the fundraising efforts from the past two years, which has now seen Coles Queensland contribute a total of almost $800,000 to Hummingbird House.
