The Yulu-Burri-Ba clinic in Dunwich has been officially opened after a $3 million redevelopment.
Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care Ken Wyatt opened the clinic, which has undergone an extensive expansion, on Tuesday.
Chief executive officer of Yulu-Burri-Ba Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health David Collins said the redevelopment had taken about two years.
“In 2012/2013, Yulu-Burri-Ba received funding for the redevelopment of the clinic on North Stradbroke Island,” he said.
“The clinic has been expanded from four to 12 consultation rooms and has been renovated to provide more modern facilities.”
The clinic continued to operate while renovations were underway.
Mr Collins said the redevelopment meant Yulu-Burri-Ba staff could service more people in properly fitted consultation rooms.
He said the facility provided primary health care and allied health services including physiotherapy and podiatry.
The redevelopment opening was also attended by Bowman MP Andrew Laming and chief executive officers from other Aboriginal health service organisations.
