FIRE brigade officers fought a major blaze in a highset, chamferboard house at Alexandra Hills on Thursday morning.
Despite the best efforts of firefighters, much of the interior of the house in Sallows Street was burnt out.
Firefighters said the owner was outside when they arrived at the house after being called about 6.30am.
Four fire crews and specialist vehicles responded and were able to put the fire out by about 7am.
The fire investigation unit was on scene on Thursday to determine the cause of the fire.
