While heavy rain on Saturday morning saturated the three fields at Redlands, the main oval dried out enough for our second grade team to start their game against Ipswich/Logan at 2pm. Unfortunately the other two fields were unplayable and no play was possible in the one-day games that were scheduled.

Team of the weekend was the Redlands 6th Grade no 1 who dismissed Valleys no 2 team for 130 runs with Uwan Porage and Lachlan Guilfoyle each taking three wickets. Enter Redlands big hitter Paul Bonney who scored a brilliant 94 runs off 45 balls, six runs short of a Redlands record for the fastest century. Scott Butters was next best with 23 not out as Redlands chased down the required runs in 14 overs, securing a bonus point.

1st Grade are playing Ipswich/Logan in a two-day game at Amberley and spent the day chasing the ball around the park as Ipswich/Logan were 8 for 360 at the end of day one. Spin bowler Cameron Brimblecombe bowled 35 overs for the reasonable figures of 4 for 130. The Redlands boys will have the task ahead of them next week to chase down a big score.

2nd Grade are also playing a two-day game against Ipswich/Logan at home on Peter Burge Oval. Despite a late start due to a very wet outfield, Redlands were 7 down for 168 with Stuart Edgar scoring 95 runs in a brilliant display of batting. Redlands will be looking to score some quick runs on Saturday and then bowl out the opposition for some much-needed points.

The other grades were playing one-day matches and unfortunately our 3rd and 4th no 2 teams missed out on a game due to the wet conditions.

However, Redlands 4th Grade no 1 team played an exciting match against Gold Coast at the Gold Coast. The Redlands boys put on 209 runs for the loss of five wickets after their allotted 40 overs. Michael McEwan top scored with 53 runs, followed by James Catlow–Elliott 51 and Jesse Burns 44. Redlands then bowled out the Gold Coast for 205 with Wayne Todman and James Catlow-Elliott taking five wickets between them.

5th Grade scored 154 runs for the loss of seven wickets after their 40 overs with Josh Fraser top scoring with 61 and 26 not out from Patrick Cummins. Unfortunately some big hitting from the Uni boys saw them chase down the required runs for the loss of five wickets. Ben Lockwood was the pick of the Redlands bowlers taking two for 33.

6th Grade no 2 scored 122 runs against Toombul with Zac Dale top scoring with 37 runs. Unfortunately Redlands were not able to match the opposition score of 7 for 206. The Read boys, Will and Mitch, took a wicket each as our bowlers struggled to maintain a good line and length.

Redlands Women’s 2nd Grade team played a T20 game at home on Sunday and defending 111 runs tied with Gold Coast. Kate McDonald 26 runs and Evie Massingham 23 top scored for Redlands. The best of the bowlers were Jesica Pang, Summer-Rose Briskey and   Clodagh Ryall.

Well done to the Redlands Masters Over 40s team who defeated Wynnum Manly 166 runs to 119 at home on Sunday. It was great to see some of the next generation of Over 40s playing as well.
