The Russell Island Community Arts Group is working closely with the exciting Girt By Sea sculpture and visual arts competition being held in March 2017.
The group is fortunate to have the talented Bob Turner holding a series of workshops in a variety of media.
Bob is set to inspire island artists and help in making ready their entries, so if you have an idea come and talk to Bob and learn the way to bring your idea to a finished piece ready to enter the competition.
The competition theme is My Islands, and substantial prizes of up to $20,000 in various categories are on offer.
This competition is only open to artists who live on Russell, Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra islands.
Mainlanders are invited to come and visit this display, meet the artists, and enjoy the beauty of the islands.
Hebel sculpture is another activity on offer at Russell Island Community Arts Group or opt for the quieter Zen-tangles.
On December 6 Bob gives another workshop starting at 9.30am. Pop in, say hello and see what is offering at your community art group.
The Russell Island Recreation Hall is an easy walk up from the jetty.
RICARTS meets at the Russell Island Recreation Hall every Tuesday and Wednesday and new members are always welcome.
