CHARLOTTE Johnsone, 12, and Hamish Wilson, 8, will soon take the simple act of jumping on a trampoline to new heights.
The duo are set to perform their somersault and tumble skills at the National Gymnastics Championships, to be held in Melbourne in May.
Redland City Gymsports coach Melanie Tonks said she was thrilled her two proteges had progressed through the championship’s state qualifying heats, which were held mid-November.
“It is really great two kids I have trained from scratch have made it,” she said.
While Charlotte endured an unknown broken thumb at the time, the gymnast said she “sucked up the pain” to make it to her fifth national championship.
She will compete in the youth U15 trampoline, synchronised and double mini-trampoline events.
But it will be a first for Hamish – the 8-year-old, who will turn 9 next year, has only just met the competition’s age requirements.
Hamish will participate in the U11 trampoline and synchronised events.
