AN exclusive patch of island paradise is up for sale, with QM Properties releasing South Stradbroke Island canal lots.
South Stradbroke Island Waters is on the old Couran Point Resort site. Couran Point opened in 2000 and operated for 13 years before closing.
QM Properties general sales manager Damien Ross said the site provided an opportunity for people to live at a pristine location that would never be over-developed.
“Ninety per cent of the island is classified as state forest,” Mr Ross said.
Buyers would know they would never have people building on top of them.
“Surrounded by a 1800 hectare conservation park, the estate is ideal for those who love hiking, surfing, ocean fishing or just relaxing in beautiful surrounds,’’ he said.
Mr Ross said every buyer of the freehold lots would receive a vehicle permit, allowing access to an unspoiled surf beach from the Jumpinpin Bar to the Southport Seaway.
Residents would also have access to a proposed common pool area with a recreation pool, lap pool, gazebo and amenity block.
“The continued excellence of the estate is of great concern to us, which is why we have put in place a quality building covenant, ensuring all residents’ property values are maximised in the future,” Mr Ross said.
The initial release of 10 lots will include seven canal front lots, priced from $410,000 and three dry lots, priced from $250,000, which include a two-year marina berth lease.
The release also includes two waterfront homes priced from $870,000.
North Stradbroke and South Stradbroke were one island until 1898 when the sea broke through, creating Jumpinpin Bar.
Gold Coast City Council library services report that the breakthrough started with a shipwreck, presumably altering ocean currents on the ithmus.
