A universal garage door opener is believed to have been used by a man found lurking in the garage of a single-storey Alexandra Hills home.
The unknown man, who was confronted by a woman on her arrival home after she shouted to her husband for help, ran from the scene in the direction of McMillan Road.
The incident happened at 7.10pm on Tuesday, November 6.
The man was seen carrying a device in his hands and is described as a proportionately built, dark-haired Caucasian male, aged between his late 40s and early 50s and standing between 160cm to 170cm tall.
He was wearing prescription glasses at the time, along with a dark singlet and shorts.

Two chairs were stacked on-top of each other in an unknown person’s unsuccessful attempt to break into a two-storey house through an upper, non-secured window.
The incident took place between 10pm on Saturday, December 3, and noon the next day.

Steal from home
An unoccupied White Fig Place place home was ransacked after an unknown person smashed their way through a rear window between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Tuesday, December 6.
Police said a quantity of property was taken.

Steal from home
Two flat screen televisions were stolen from an unoccupied Redland Bay Road home after it was ransacked by unknown persons.
It is believed the thieves climbed over the property's padlocked fence and entered through an unsecured side window.
The incident happened between November 25 and Thursday, December 1.
A report was made to police after workmen near the home, who noticed the side window open and items strewn inside, notified the owner.
The unknown persons left behind a deodorant can.
