As if the recent train disruptions were not enough, Brisbane shoppers and commuters will have to deal with altered bus routes and timetable changes in the CBD this week.
Commuters are being encouraged to plan their trips ahead, with 45 bus routes set to use new stops or have routes altered slightly in the city from Monday.
The major alterations to bus timetables and stop locations in the city come as work starts on the $3 billion Queen's Wharf development project.
Queens Wharf Road will be permanently closed to all traffic from January 1 next year, and William Street between Elizabeth and Margaret Streets will be closed for five years.
TransLink Media Manager Miguel Holland said the bus changes are being introduced before Christmas to allow commuters to become familiar with the changes.
"The vast majority of timetable changes across the network are only minor but we encourage all customers to visit the TransLink website before they travel to ensure they are aware of any updates," Mr Holland said.
As well as buses operated by Brisbane Transport, some buses operated by Clarks Logan City Bus Service, Mt Gravatt Bus Service and Park Ridge Transit will also have new stops in the CBD.
More than 200 buses will also have their timetables changed to "better reflect current running times".
Transport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said in November the bus timetable changes would not affect the frequency of services.
"For more people, timetables will shift by less than six minutes, with a small number changing by up to 15 minutes," Mr Hinchliffe said.
Commuters are advised to check the Translink website for all timetable changes, and to plan their trips.
RACQ's Renee Smith said drivers should also start thinking about how their trips through the city will be affected after the January 1 changes.
