THE Kozii Iron Challenge attracted 250 nippers to Raby Bay on Saturday.
Competitors came from as far afield as Bundaberg and Northern NSW surf life saving clubs.
Aged between nine and 13, the nippers took part in three iron races (swim-run-board-run) in a round robin format.
Point Lookout Surf Life Saving Club had 25 nippers competing and the club provided support with water safety, first aid, officials and provision of a barbecue.
Point Lookout members Kate Johnston, in the under nine category, and Callum Brennan, in under 13, each finished second in their age groups.
The flat water racing was a good warm up to the upcoming Queensland Youth Championships being held at Hervey Bay in February.
Cr Peter Mitchell was on hand to present the trophies to the winners.
