Late in 2016 Macleay Island Arts Complex (MIAC) held a very successful 35th Annual Member’s Exhibition.
Well over 135 people attended the exhibition opening and many artworks were sold.
This interest continued over the following weeks of the exhibition.
The art gallery is open Friday to Sunday 10am to 3pm at 95-97 Coast Road Macleay Island and features a changing exhibition.
The art group was first established in 1980 with a tutor and two students but by 1991 the group had grown and obtained their own premises on land supplied by Redland Shire Council.
The Macleay Island Arts Complex now comprises an inspirational and relaxing bay front gallery, pottery studio and art workshop area set amidst beautiful newly refurbished surroundings, encompassing native gardens, artworks and sculptures and is a mecca for creativity.
Pottery painting and print workshops are being planned for 2017 as well as a variety of exhibitions. Music and social evenings are also being added to the calendar making 2017 an exciting time for the complex.
During March MIAC will play a major role in the SMBI ‘Girt by Sea’ Sculpture and Painting Competitions with nearly $100,000 in prize money.
MIAC is not just a building, but a community and always welcomes new members.
